How Do Skin Boosters Work

Fillers typically work by filling up volume deficiencies and lifting the skin. Skin boosters, on the other hand, are extremely soft and serve to hydrate and rejuvenate the skin.
Skin boosters are most often performed on the face and neck, but other areas on the body such as the décolletage can also be treated. In particular, the treatment works extremely well to rejuvenate the hands. In general, it takes 2 mls of fillers to treat the whole face, and 3 mls to treat the face and neck, but this can vary.

Skin Boosters come with some degree of downtime, as it involves numerous injections. So remember to have it done at least a week before your important event. Injection related side effects, such as temporary swelling, bruising and injection marks will occur. The degree of these side effects will depend on how sensitive your skin is and the method your doctor uses to inject. When injected precisely and accurately into the right skin layer, there will be minimal bruising – most patients do not have problems going back to work, and other social activities.
Please avoid alcohol, NSAIDS (such as aspirin and nurofen), and any supplements which can thin the blood (including Vitamin E, garlic, ginseng) for 2 days before and after the treatment to minimize bruising. Avoid swimming, strenuous exercise and going to a sauna for a day after the treatment.
